Lok Pal Bill












LokPal is the combination of two word. The word LokPal is related to Hindi language. The meaning of Lok is People and The meaning of Pal is Protector. So the Full meaning of this LokPal is Protector of people.


Well LokPal means an ombudsman in India. The Concept of LokPal has been drawn up to root out Corruption at high places.It is in existence for reducing for corruption at higher level. LokPal has three members - a chairperson who is related to chief justice or supreme court judge and two members are related to high court judge or chief justices.


Firstly LokPal was passed in 4th Lok Sabha in 1969 but it could not passed in Rajya Shabha. Then after It was introduced in 1971, 1977, 1985, 1989, 1996, 1998, 2001,  2005, and 2008.  Mrs. Indira Ghandi tried to pass this bill in 1968 to 1971. Mr. Morarji Desai was attempted in 1977. Mr. Rajiv Ganghi  tried to pass this bill in 1985. Mr. V.P. Singh had proposed this bill in 1989. Mr. Deva Gowda was attempted in 1996 to pass this bill. Mr. A.B. Vajpayee had taken the issue in 1998 and 2001 to pass this bill.  In Congress Government This LokPal Bill came into existence to pass it in 2005 and 2008. But it could not passed.


Some different The Jan Lok Bill is also known as Citizen's ombudsman bill. It is a draft anti corruption bill. It has the power to take independent decision without prior government approval. The main requirement of this Jan LokPal Bill is some deficiency in the present LokPal bill.

Now Anna Hazare has got success for passing this Jan LokPal Bill. He used Gandhian activity for passing this bill. He has taken a fast untill death for passing this bill against Government. At last Government gave response  to pass this bill. The Government issued a notification constituting a 10 member joint commission of Ministers and Civils.
